Make the most out of your next flight

I am unbelievably lucky to say that I get to travel quite regularly not only for work but for leisure as well. I must say after a while it becomes more like a task than an enjoyable moment.

As I write this I am sitting in a plane behind a group of youngsters who are flying to JHB and it seems to be their very first time in an airplane.
Hearing their excited screams as the pilot opens the throttle really gave me goosebumps and made me experience just a little of that magic once again.
So what are my tips today? Just a few ways to bring back the excitement of traveling. Cheesy, I know but every now and then you have to be.

Tip 1: Look out the window.
I try and get the window seat for every trip just because it’s more comfortable for me to sleep. I stopped enjoying the view ages ago. Today I actually stayed awake for the flight and it’s very cool to watch everyone sit in traffic when you don’t have to.

Tip 2: Feel like you are flying
When I was younger someone I was sitting next to suggested I lift my feet off the floor as we take off and it will feel like you are flying. Don’t diss it… just give it a try.

Tip 3: Watch the safety demonstration
I know most of them are boring but lately I have been getting a few very cool cabin assistants that tend to spice things up. Maybe you’ll get lucky too.

Tip 4: Try the food
Yes, I know most of you hate the food and on most domestic flights you don’t even get any but today when flighing British Airways I got a Krispy Kream doughnut. I kid you not!

Tip 5: Enjoy the lounge
So you may not be on the plane for this one but it’s one of the coolest travel perks for me. Try out an airport lounge. Surprisingly this is not only for the super wealthy, I mean I can get access. A lot of the airport lounges are now linked to reward programs. Check with your bank or your airline and you might just get to indulge.
